KUALA LUMPUR, May 30 – Public Bank Bhd’s co-chairman Tan Sri Thong Yaw Hong, 85, passed away which following a period of illness. He was appointed as chairman of Public Bank in 1986 and re-designated as co-chairman in 2002. He also served as a co-chairman that have a various companies in the Public Bank Group which included Public Islamic Bank Bhd and Public Investment Bank.
The board of directors of the Public Bank Group acknowledge that he was a par excellence calibre and his invaluable contributions over his 29 years with the group. He have been involved in a primarily in the fields of socio-economic development planning and finance.
“Co-chairman Tan Sri Thong Yaw Hong passed away was an indeed greatly saddened by the loss of he. He will always be remembered for the stature in the government service and corporate in the world. ,” Public Bank chairman Tan Sri Dr Teh Hong Piow said yesterday.
