PADANG BESAR, Sept 23 – Perlis Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism, Transport, Regional and Corridor Development Committee chairman Datuk Sabry Ahmad representing Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Azlan Man handed over 168 cows at the Perlis Veterinary Department collection centre in Guar Nangka here on Tuesday for the sacrificial slaughter to 60 parties, including government departments and agencies, in conjunction with the Aidiladha celebration.

“A sum of RM800,000 had been allocated for the purpose, which has been the practice of the state since several years ago. Meanwhile, the state government hopes that those who will be carrying out the sacrificial slaughter ritual will distribute the sacrificial beef to the needy,” he told reporters after handing over the sacrificial cows.

“The Veterinary Department had also issued over 350 slaughter permits to corporate companies and individuals who wanted to perform the ritual for the Aidiladha on Thursday. Although there was no controlled price for beef, the price did not exceed RM30 per kilogram (kg) with an average sales price of between RM28 and RM29 per kg,” he added.
