JEMPOL, Oct 18 – Police have detained a man who was believed to have raped an 11-year-old girl who gave birth to a boy here last August. Jempol district police chief Supt Hamzah Alias said the man was detained at his family home in Kota Bahru, Kelantan, last Thursday.
He said that the suspect is now in remand until Oct 22 to facilitate investigation for rape. He said police took more than two months to detain the suspect who had been moving from one location to another to avoid arrest. He told a media conference here on Saturday.
In the meantime, the girl who raped by the man had also delivered the baby, who was premature, at the private clinic in Pekan Bahau on last Aug 5, but the baby boy was died during treatment at Tuanku Ampuan Najihah Hospital, Kuala Pilah, a week later delivered.
