KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 3 – Dewan Rakyat speaker Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia told DAP’s Petaling Jaya Utara MP Tony Pua to resign from the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) if he wants to proceed with the debate with 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) president Arul Kanda Kandasamy.
Pandikar said the debate between the two would not be allowed by the Parliament as it could contravene with PAC’s probe into 1MDB. He said if they want to proceed with this debate, Tony Pua needs to resign from PAC or should abstain himself from any PAC hearings on 1MDB.
Meanwhile, Pandikar also said that the debating with Arul Kanda would make Pua a “prosecutor”, not “investigator”, and thus erode PAC’s credibility. He added that if the debate were to go ahead, Arul Kanda should also abstain from being the star witness in the 1MDB probe by PAC.
