KUCHING, Dec 17 – Sarawak Chief Minister Tan Sri Adenan Satem said he is loyal to Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak as Prime Minister and Barisan Nasional Chairman. He said that Najib had never been proven guilty of any wrongdoing, and as such there was no reason not to be loyal to him.
In his speech winding up the debate on the Supply Bill (2016) at the State Assembly today, Adenan said: “He is the Prime Minister, and the Barisan Nasional Chairman… I owe him my loyalty. If he is found guilty (of any wrongdoing), only then will I reconsider my loyalty to him.”
He said the Prime Minister is innocent until proven otherwwise, and he cannot be deemed guilty based on allegations alone. Adenan had been interrupted by several opposition assemblymen, including Yap Hoi Liong (DAP-Dudong), who questioned his support for Najib, whom he said was associated with the 1MDB controversy. The Chief Minister stressed again that Najib had never been proven guilty of anything despite the accusations the opposition levelled against him.
