GEORGE TOWN, Jan 10 – A group of 30 people held a peace demonstration against Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement (TPPA) over the entrance of USM’s Sungai Dua gate here on Saturday. The peace demonstration began at about 11:30am while ended at around 12:00pm.
Also present were Machang Bubuk Assemblyman Lee Khai Loon, USM student Lee Chung Lun, Ikatan Mahasiswa spokesperson Jefry Musa, Consumers Association of Penang’s S Mageswari, Aliran’s Anil Netto, Nur Fitri Amir from Bantah TPPA, and representatives from Parti Amanah Negara and PKR Youth.
Parti Sosialis Malaysia’s Choo Chon Kai said TPPA is an attempt that to sells off the country. He said this is unfair to the rakyat which the nation is being forced to sign this agreement. Additionally, Nur Fitri also pointed out that this agreement was just an agreement which to take care of the corporate interest, not public interest.
“So, we should stop the bullies from the people in power. Therefore, I would like to urged all the Malaysians to attend the rally against the TPPA in Kuala Lumpur on Jan 23 (Saturday),” said Choo during the peace demonstration at the entrance of USM’s Sungai Dua gate, here, Saturday.
