GEORGE TOWN, Jan 10 – The Trans-Pacific Partnership agreement (TPP) has gained high acceptance now as compared to the first introduced, said International Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed. He said last year many did not agree to the TPPA but now the acceptance is high after an in-depth discussion with the rakyat.
Meanwhile, he said, there are also several opposition members of parliaments do not seem to agree with the TPPA although they have a better understanding about this agreement. He told this to the reporters during the press conference at Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) here on Saturday.
“Public now have a better understanding about TPPA. While the opportunities which available for Malaysians in the future are also clearly seen by the public now. Once the TPPA is signed, businessman in Penang will get more benefits on TPPA due to Penang is the the strongest base for TPPA. Besides that, Malaysian business may also access to other TPPA member countries market such as Australia, Brunei, Singapore, United States, Vietnam, Japan and more,” said Mustapa.
