GEORGE TOWN, March 1 – The launching of the paging board was held at Penang International Airport (PIA) this morning with officiate by Penang State Tourism Development & Culture, YB Danny Law Heng Kiang. The main objective of the implementation is to ensure the smooth and systematic process of guest reception at PIA.

This initiative is part of Malaysia Airports’ aspiration to improve passenger service levels at the airport and also to further enhance Malaysia’s reputation among tourists visiting the country. There were around 50 flights of Domestic Flights and International Flights per day.

The implementation of this initiative is to ensure that passengers will be picked up by the legitimate parties with whom they have made prior arrangements. Among others, the procedures would include the use of a standard paging board template by relevant parties so as to ensure that these legitimate parties will be easily identifiable by the airport authorities and the public.

There is a counter at the concourse area and those who wish to page their arriving passengers just need to register at the counter and be given an orange frame. One can slot in their A-4 size passenger name/flight arrival free of charge. In kicking-start the initiative, a paging board counter has been setup at the Arrival Concourse which will be managed by Koperasi Pemandu Limo (KOPLIMO).

This standard paging board initiative is a collaborative effort between Malaysia Airport and KOPLIMO with the support from Penang State Tourism, relevant government agencies such as Suruhanjaya Pengangkutan Awam Darat (SPAD), Jabatan Pengangkutan Jalan (JPJ), Polis Diraja Malaysia (PDRM) and also Persatuan Teksi dan Limo (PPLT).

Malaysia Airports is confident that the implementation of standard paging board procedures will ensure a joyful experience for the passengers travelling through PIA. Also present were Senior Airport Manager Tn. Mohd Arif bin Jaafar and also Chairman of KOPLIMO, Noor Ashikin Bin Amman.
