KUCHING, April 25 – Nomination for the 11th Sarawak state election closed at 10 am this morning. The process which started at 9 am lasted an hour at 82 nomination centres. Thereafter, the returning officer for each constituency will announce the names of candidates in the event of a contest.
Polling is on May 7th. The election is being held following the dissolution of the Sarawak state legislative assembly on April 11. Eighty-two seats are at stake, from 71 previously with 11 new seats created from the redelineation of electoral boundaries last year.
