GEORGE TOWN, Feb 10 – Poh Hock Seah annual Twa Peh Kong ‘Chneah Hoay’ (flame-watching) ceremony at Hai Choo Soo Temple in Tanjung Tokong here this evening. The flame shows that the overall Penang State’s economy is average in the Year of the Fire Rooster.
The ritual began at 11.45pm on Friday, the first flame was successfully ignited at 12.07am, followed by the second flame at 12.11am and the last flame at 12.15am on Saturday. The strength of the flame is divided into three levels, namely good, average and fair.
The prediction is based on the intensity of the three flames with each flame representing a four-month cycle. First flame represents economic fortunes of the Lunar first four months, the second flame mid 4 months and the third flame last 4 months of the year.
Poh Hock Seah Temple vice- president Datuk Tan Lye Hock said the strength of the three flames was average. He said the overall prediction this year is better than that for last year. Also present were state Tourism Development Committee chairman Danny Law Heng Kiang and Poh Hock Seah Temple president Datuk Lim Chooi Beng.
