KUALA TERENGGANU, Mar 19 – The culture and tradition of the various communities in the country should continue to be promoted at the international level in an effort to elevate local arts to a wider community. Tourism and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz said the silat martial art for example has a big following overseas such as in Japan, China, Korea and Europe after being introduced at the international level.
“By enlivening and promoting this traditional art at the international level it will continue to be sustained by the foreign communities who are very interested in the art,” he said. He said this to reporters after opening the Visit Terengganu 2017 Beach Festival at Pantai Batu Buruk here, yesterday.
Also present was Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Razif Abdul Rahman. Nazri said for a start the ministry plans to hold a Terengganu art and cultural evening at the Istana Budaya to introduce Terengganu art, culture and food to local and foreign tourists. — Bernama
