LANGKAWI, Mar 24 – Closing of the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition 2017 (LIMA’17) was happening at Mahsuri International Exhibition Centre (MIEC) here this afternoon with the present of the Minister of Defence, Dato’ Seri Hishammuddin Onn. It was opening to public today with the entrance fees on RM10 per person per day. Age below 18 year old or citizen or OKU are free to entrance.
LIMA’17 has revealed record breaking numbers over the three main industry-only trade days (Tuesday and Thursday) where the combined attendances totalled 40,280, exceeding LIMA 2015 figures. The strong support from members of the industry towards the exhibition is a clear sign that the industry is not slowing down. Furthermore, LIMA’17 are expecting a total of roughly 140,000 public visitors over today and tomorrow.
The exhibition has been evolving in Langkawi for the past twenty-seven years – and this year exhibition, concurrent of program of activities, live maritime and air displays, and static displays were most impactful to date. LIMA’17 is the biggest edition to date in terms of space and attendees, with a unique split between the Aerospace segment at the MIEC and the Maitime segment of Resort World.

Furthermore, and impressive RM3.8 billion worth of signings were witnessed at the Official Signing Ceremony yesterday. LIMA’17 also witnessed historic firsts, such 3 Royal Malaysian Air Force Airbus A400Ms performing a tactical manoeuvre together during the Opening Gambit – never before seem in the world.
Also, the Jupiter Aerobatic Team from Indonesia and the Black Eagles Aerobatic Team from South Korea performed a joint formation for the first time ever during the air show today. In the meanwhile, the 6 Jupiter KT1s along with 8 Black Eagles T50s conducted manoeuvres and demonstrations for the public, displaying a strong sense of the camaraderie only exhibition at LIMA’17.
For the maritime segment, the maritime bodies and agencies conducted their demonstrations for the first time with the industry partners such as Thales, SAAB and Muhibbah. Having said that the Royal Malaysian Navy played host to the largest high-powered Navy delegation, consisting of 31 Chiefs of Navy and representatives.
