GEORGE TOWN, Jun 19 – Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng hold a press conference today announced that the Penang Hill Corporation to be partnership with ZY Movement Foundation and The Habitat to organising the second “Climb To Change A Life” at Penang Hill event on 16 July 2017.
At the event, participants will go on a 1.6km walk through The Habitat nature trail will give participants the opportunity to touch, smell, see and hear the noise of Mother Nature in the natural forest atop Penang Hill. He said the event is aimed at giving disabled children a fun and life-changing experience. He said they believe that this will also put smiles on their faces.
It will provide an opportunity for the disabled children to climb the hill with proper guidance. He said hill climbing is getting popular after Alex Honnold’s climb of El Capitan, the towering stone heart of Yosemite National Park and a sweep of golden granite reaching twenty-seven hundred feet into the sky. Also present were the ZY Movement Foundation CEO Walter Lee.
The first “Climb To Change A Life” was held in April last year where more than 30 disabled children took part in the event. This year the organisers hope to host another group of children with physical disabilities or cerebral palsy and there is no fees charged to participate in the event by these children. Penang-born Lee, who carved a successful corporate career in Thailand, has three children and the youngest Zy, was born with severe deformity.
Lee took these challenges in stride and positively embarked on a personal mission to help his son lead a more meaningful life through positive thinking and freedom of movement towards independent living in society. He took a step further by setting up the foundation to help other similarly afflicted children in Thailand and other South East Asian countries.
