SEGAMAT, Jul 29 – Labis Member of Parliament Datuk Chua Tee Yong has denied allegations made by the opposition that Barisan Nasional assemblymen in Segamat are members of the district council. The Deputy Minister of International Trade and Industry said the allegations were lies which were made up just because of the coming 14th general election.
“In Segamat, there are four BN assemblymen, namely Mohd Azahar Ibrahim (Tenang), Datuk Ayub Rahmat (Kemelah), Norshida Ibrahim (Buloh Kasap) and Lau Chin Hoon (Pemanis) but they are all not members of the council,” he said. He was speaking to reporters after launching the 2017 MITI and Agencies Entrepreneur Roadshow here last night.
Chua was commenting on the allegations made by Parti Amanah Negara Deputy Youth Head Shazni Munir Mohd Ithnin that there were politicians in Segamat who were members of the district council (MDS). Shazni Munir made the allegations during Invoke’s ‘Bina Semula Negara’ tour in Segamat on July 22. Chua said the allegations were mere lies to confuse the public so that the opposition could win in the general election. — Bernama
