JOHOR BARU, Sept 5 – The official English form of address for Johor’s Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar has been changed from “His Royal Highness” to “His Majesty”, effective today. Johor Sultanah Raja Zarith Sofiah Sultan Idris Shah will be addressed as “Her Majesty”.
In a statement issued today, Johor Council of Royal Court president Abdul Rahim Ramli said the change in titles was decreed by Sultan Ibrahim in accordance with the privileges, power and authority vested in him under Article 7(2)(d)(f) and (g) of the Second Part of the Johor State Constitution of 1895.
The Malay “Duli Yang Maha Mulia” form of address for Sultan Ibrahim and Permaisuri Johor Raja Zarith Sofiah remains unchanged. In conversation, Sultan Ibrahim shall be addressed as “Your Majesty, Tuanku or Sir” and Permaisuri Johor Raja Zarith Sofiah as “Your Majesty, Tuanku or Madam”.
