GENERAL MANAGER OF GEORGE TOWN WORLD HERITAGE INCORPORATED (GTWHI) GEORGE TOWN FESTIVAL 2019 OPENING CEREMONY
Good evening and welcome to the Opening Ceremony of George Town Festival 2019.
This year marks the tenth edition of the George Town Festival — an occasion to showcase the richness and diversity of our arts, culture and heritage. George Town Festival was initiated by George Town World Heritage Incorporated as the catalyst for creating a sustainable and liveable city by engaging and involving the people. With the hard work of many people, the Festival has evolved to be one of the most significant and forward-looking festivals in the region.
As we are entering the second decade of the George Town Festival, we are embracing George Town’s potential as Malaysia’s capital in Arts, Culture and Heritage. This year theme is “A Festival for Everyone” and we are inviting everyone to be part of the free-to-attend events alongside specially curated ticketed shows. The heritage city of George Town will be filled with programmes on visual art, theatre, music, dance, film, photography and more in the next two weeks. We hope all of you will support George Town Festival
by participating in these events.
