Penang Hill Corporation (PHC) is pleased to announce that it has attained ISO 37001:2016 certification for the Anti-Bribery Management System (ABMS) and ISO 14001:2015. ISO 37001 Anti-Bribery Management System (ABMS) is designed to assist organisations to prevent, detect and respond to bribery incidences which include compliance to laws, regulations and other voluntary commitments.
PHC recognizes that transparency and trust are the building blocks of the organisation’s credibility. The requirements of ISO 37001 Anti-Bribery Management System (ABMS) will therefore ensure that PHC has adopted the best practices required to effectively manage bribery risks. On the other hand, ISO 14001 is an international standard that specifies requirements for Environmental Management System (EMS). One of the most widely used EMS standard in the world, it requires organisations to identify as well as manage the environmental aspects and impacts resulting from their daily operations, products and services.
PHC is committed to manage Penang Hill environmental responsibilities in a systematic manner that contributes to the environmental pillar of sustainability which is consistent with our mission values, conservation and green practices. PHC’s ISO 37001:2016 certification is accredited by the Department of Standards Malaysia whilst the ISO 14001:2015 certification is accredited by both the Department of Standards Malaysia and the United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS).
PHC’s General Manager Dato’ Cheok Lay Leng said the award of these two standard certifications is a recognition on PHC’s effort and commitment towards responsible and sustainable work practices. “We are very delighted that our endeavour to further improve best practices and uphold work ethics within PHC has been rewarded with the certifications acknowledge the commitment taken by PHC to be ethically responsible not just ISO 37001:2016 and ISO 14001:2015. These in its efforts to prevent bribery but also in preservation of the environment.”
