PUTRAJAYA, September 8 – The COVID-19 Pandemic Management Special Committee meeting on Wednesday, September 8, 2021, agreed to allow the transition to Phase 2, for the Klang Valley area of Selangor, the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur and the Federal Territory of Putrajaya effective September 10, 2021. Among the concessions given are the same as the states that have entered Phase 2 before, as stipulated by the National Security Council (MKN) namely:
• Cross -county is allowed to individuals who have completed receiving two doses of vaccine;
• Fully vaccinated long -distance married couples are allowed to cross the state;
• Parents who have received two doses of the vaccine are allowed across the state to see their children under 18;
• Dine-in is allowed at food premises for customers who have fully received two doses of vaccine; and
• Tourism activities are only allowed in the same state involving accommodation in hotels and homestays for individuals who have completed two doses.
The committee also decided that Selangor, the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur and the Federal Territory of Putrajaya be combined as one common infection area. Thus, movement between these states is allowed and there are no more roadblocks. Meanwhile, the committee also agreed to relax the SOPs for sports, leisure and recreational activities, for the states under Phase 1. Among the rulings that have been decided are:
• Allow indoor sports activities, except gyms, to individuals who have completed two doses of the vaccine.
• Indoor commercial sports and recreation facilities are allowed to operate under regulation, only to customers who have been fully vaccinated. Use of the facility must be done by appointment in addition to compliance with SOPs.
This decision was made based on the current risk assessment made by the Ministry of Health Malaysia (MOH) and the NSC and will take effect on 10 September 2021. For the trade and distribution sector; flower shop/nursery businesses, outdoor equipment shops and housing galleries will be allowed to operate from 10 September 2021 for the states under Phase 1.
Meanwhile for states placed under Phase 2 and Phase 3, additional flexibility for barber shop, hair dresser, and beauty salon activities is allowed. The latest Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) will be updated by the NSC and the relevant ministries.
