STATE GOVERNMENT COVID-19 CALL CENTER IN OPERATION, NON-CITIZEN WALK-IN INITIATIVE
The COVID-19 Call Center of the Penang State Government started operating today with the call number, 04-261 8000. The operating hours are now from 8 am to 5 pm every day, and will be improved to 24 hours. Generally, the call center is an addition to the existing line, namely the COVID-19 Assessment Center (CAC) Call Center or CAC Call Center; COVID -19 Penang Integrated Control Center or Penang Covid -19 Unified Command Center (PUCC) and careline PgCare Coalition or PgCare Alliance now.
The Penang State Health Department (JKNPP) will provide information on the list of quarantined patients, and coordination from the State Government COVID-19 Call Center or ‘Penang Covid-19 Call Center’ on the needs of those who are found positive, undergo quarantine at home and other- others related are expected to improve the existing response time or ‘response time’. In the meantime, the walk-in initiative will be open for non-citizens starting September 17, 2021 (Friday) involving four (4) Vaccination Centers (PPV) as follows:-
(i) SPICE Convention Center;
(ii) the Millennium Council;
(iii) SP Arena; and
(iv) Sungai Bakap Multipurpose Hall.
*The start of walk-in for non-citizens in the four (4) PPV is starting at 2 pm every day.
For information, as of yesterday, 14 September 2021, a total of 9,011 individuals (adult population, citizens) have taken the walk-in initiative involving 10 PPVs opened for related purposes since 8 September 2021. In fact, those who missed the second dose appointment are also welcome -welcome to walk-in to any PPV listed to complete the injection dose. According to data from the COVID-19 Vaccine Supply Assurance Special Committee (JKJAV) until 14 September 2021, the adult population for the state of Penang is still 116,403 individuals who have not yet received any vaccination out of the total (according to the Department of Statistics), 1,384,600 people.
However, the remaining amount includes those who have obtained injections for a fee (on their own initiative) at registered private clinics and hospitals. The implementation of the National COVID-19 Immunization Program (PICK) among adolescents will begin in the state of Penang in the near future. The ministry is refining the vaccination process to be suitable for the population aged 18 and under. Engagement sessions involving relevant agencies and JKNPP were held with the hope that its implementation will be expedited.
