PENANG, September 30 – As Penang Hill Corporation (PHC) intends to gradually reopen in accordance with the National Recovery Plan and the announcement made by the Federal Government, the Penang Hill funicular service would like to welcome back visitors effective from 1st October 2021. The first trip will start at 6.30am followed by 7.00am and repeat at an hourly interval daily. The last trip will be at 8.00pm. Additional trips will be provided if necessary. All visitors are advised to follow our social media pages for any changes in schedule. Visitors who are taking the funicular from the Lower Station to the Upper Station and vice versa are required to always adhere strictly to the standard operating procedures (SOP) set by the authorities and PHC as follow:-
- Must be fully vaccinated
- “Low Risk No Symptom” – COVID-19 Risk Status on MySejahtera
- Check-in via the MySejahtera application
- Temperature checks
- Proper wearing of face mask at all times (inside funicular coach)
- Physical distancing
- Frequent sanitisation of hands
- Funicular operates at 50 visitors per trip (50% capacity of maximum 100) only
