GEORGE TOWN, October 20 – Penang Youth Development Corporation (PYDC) had initiated essential skills programmes for youth with the aim to prepare them for the future. The four modules include Innovative and Resilient Mindset, Critical Thinking and Effective Problem Solving, Managing Stress Effectively and The Art of Self-Coaching. This two-day programme has successfully ended on 16 October 2021.

A total of 82 participants attended the four different sessions. In the feedback forms sent to them, most of the participants agreed that the programmes taught and will help them in their future endeavours and they have learned new knowledge from the programmes. The first module, Innovative and Resilient Mindset was conducted by Vernon C.F, a trainer and coach. Meanwhile, the second module, Critical Thinking and Effective Problem Solving was conducted by Niitesh MK who is a career coach and the last two modules, Managing Stress Effectively and The Art of Self-Coaching were conducted by Mr Fauzi Nordin, GAANS master trainer.

Throughout the programmes, the speakers shared with the participants on their experience, knowledge, and advice on life. Vernon C.F, in the first module said, “Life has ups and downs. But always remember to come back stronger because that’s what resilience means.” Fauzi Nordin emphasized that we are in charge of our own life and the stress that we experience. On another note, the comments from the participants are very positive. Below are some of the feedbacks gotten from the participants.

“It is certainly an insightful sharing session. I feel quite fresh with and enjoy the contents and knowledge shared as well as interaction and discussion among the speaker and audiences from different backgrounds. Even though the event has been conducted online, the overall is still lively and enjoyable.” “After this seminar, I know which part of myself that I need to focus on improving as well as keeping up with the part that I’m already good at.”

“The sharing session is insightful, and I was enlightened with many ideas about how our brains think and process information. It helps me to further develop my critical thinking skills with systematic and proper guidance.” “One key takeaway from this program is emotion is what makes us human, and it is the thoughts that affect our behavior. After hearing this, I start not to blame myself as I can change how I react to things. It is really a powerful takeaway for me!”

“This workshop changed my views towards my future and my current life. It was a memorable and interesting talks which I will bear in mind and apply it in my life.” There will be another series of essential skills programmes that will be done in December.
