PUTRAJAYA, December 4 – Malaysia has managed to generate more than RM33.9 billion in potential trade and investment returns through a total of 43 Memoranda of Understanding, Memoranda of Cooperation and Letters of Intent, as well as 602 business indicators with several international companies in the first 8 weeks of participation in Expo 2020 Dubai. This achievement has been contributed through cross-ministerial collaborations involving the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI), Ministry of Environment and Water (KASA) and the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) along with agencies under these ministries and private companies.
To ensure greater achievements and synergies, cross-ministerial participation has been coordinated through Pavilion Malaysia sub-themes namely commercialization of local technology, developing a sustainable startup ecosystem, green technology innovation, climate resilience and sustainable infrastructure, smart and low carbon cities, finance sustainable as well as halal industry and sustainable manufacturing.
Malaysia has also managed to surpass the original target of RM10 billion for potential trade and investment returns in Malaysia’s participation in Expo 2020 Dubai.

With this positive development, the government is confident that Malaysia’s participation in Expo 2020 Dubai will have a wider impact. It also proves that Malaysian companies and technologies are internationally recognized and have succeeded in attracting investment and interest from various strategic partners. This momentum is expected to continue for the next 18 weeks with the diligent efforts of various ministries, agencies and state governments.
The Malaysia Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai designed with the concept of a tropical rainforest canopy themed Energizing Sustainability has recorded more than 330,000 visitors as of 3 December 2021. Change Corporation (MGTC) Top -level visits to the Malaysia Pavilion include receiving guests of honor from the United States, the United Arab Emirates, India, Cambodia, Kuwait, the Republic of Guinea, Russia, the United Kingdom, as well as the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce.
