KUALA LUMPUR, December 11 – The Ministry of Health Malaysia (MOH) took note of the organization of the Malaysian 100 Day Malaysian Family Aspirations Ceremony organized by the Joint Prosperity Delivery Unit (SEPADU), Prime Minister’s Department, 2021 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Center (KLCC). The organization of the event, which was supposed to mark the 100 days of the government as well as all the ministries and agencies involved, was marred by the failure of the organizers to ensure compliance with the SOPs and the failure of visitors to comply with the SOPs set.
The organization of such official government events should set the best example and be an example and benchmark to other agencies including non-governmental agencies and the public; not only from the aspect of program implementation, but also the aspect of compliance with SOPs and regulations that have been set. The incident is very regrettable and disappointing when the organizers have previously stated their commitment to ensure that the program will be organized in strict compliance with SOPs in addition to ongoing monitoring, control and enforcement activities.
Congestion situations, no physical incarceration and no control of the number of visitors present put the risk of transmission of COVID-19 infection. Accordingly, one (1) compound under the Disease Prevention and Control Act (Act 342) worth RM1,000 was issued to the organizers for the offense of failing to ensure physical imprisonment and causing congestion. For information, following the repeal of the Emergency Ordinances in the Dewan Negara on 8 December 2021, the maximum compound value that can be imposed on individuals and organizations is RM1,000.
The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) and Road Transport Department (JPJ) summons payment discount counters provided in KLCC will be closed immediately starting this afternoon. Further information on the method of payment of summons and discount offers will be informed by the PDRM. MOH will continue to monitor the progress of this program and will not hesitate to issue more compounds to the organizers if they fail to ensure compliance with SOPs. As a government, we should set an example and best practices to the whole society. We must adhere to the same standards that have been imposed on the people.
