SEBERANG PERAI, January 1 – Appointment of YBhg. Dato ‘Azhar bin Arshad is on loan for a period of two (2) years and an extension option of one (1) year effective 1 January 2022, and the appointment is being managed by the Public Service Department (JPA) and the Public Service Commission (SPA) .
YBhg. Dato ‘Azhar bin Arshad was appointed as MBSP Mayor to replace YBhg. Dato ’Sr. Hj. Rozali bin Hj. Mohamud, 63, whose contract of service expired today (31 December 2021). On this occasion, I represent the leadership of the Penang State Government would like to thank YBhg. Dato ’Sr. Hj. Rozali bin Hj. Mohamud for his excellent service as MBSP Mayor as well as other positions since he joined the relevant local authority (PBT) services in 1990.
Various achievements have been achieved by MBSP during his leadership period, among which are the success of Seberang Perai in winning nine (9) awards and recognition throughout 2021; launched four (4) Strategic Action Plans; provide eight (8) Low Carbon Cities and Smart Cities achievements to be evaluated by the people, the first two (2) design innovations in Malaysia registered in the Copyright Register pursuant to Section 26B of the Copyright Act 1987 [Act 332].
Holder of six (6) Malaysia Book Of Records; implement seven (7) simultaneous management certifications according to ISO standards and achieve a recycling rate of 55.91 percent by 2020 (the highest achievement in the country). Most recently, MBSP has also achieved Low Carbon City status one year earlier than the original target (2022) when the average per capita carbon production of 5.39 tonnes of CO2e was lower than the average carbon production of 5.47 tonnes of CO2e (CO2e, global average carbon emissions or average global carbon emission).
It is hoped that this excellence can be continued by YBhg. Dato ‘Azhar bin Arshad, 55, who is currently the Deputy State Secretary (Development), Penang State Secretary’s Office. Have an academic background in a Bachelor of Economics; Diploma in Education for Postgraduate Teaching Courses; Diploma in Public Management and Master’s Course in Land Resource Management.
He had previously served in the Ministry of Information Malaysia as well as several District and Land Offices in Pahang before serving in the Penang State Secretary’s Office since November 2018.
