KUALA LUMPUR, January 21 – On December 22, 2021, the Malaysian Ministry of Health (MOH) has announced the temporary suspension of bus and flight ticket sales for the Malaysia-Singapore Vaccinated Travel Land (VTL) in force. during the period 23 December 2021 to 20 January 2022.
Following the risk assessment carried out based on the current COVID-19 situation in both countries, MOH would like to inform that the sale of bus and flight tickets for these two VTL initiatives (land and air) will be reopened with immediate effect on 21 January 2022.
However, for now, the ticket quota sold starting January 21, 2022 will be reduced from the existing quota, which is a 50 percent reduction in bus and flight capacity.
However, for passengers who have already purchased tickets for travel dates after January 20, 2022 before the announcement of the suspension of ticket sales is made, they are allowed to continue traveling using this initiative according to the quota that has been set previously.
The timeline regarding the increase in ticket sales quota will depend on the risk assessment that will be conducted from time to time on an ongoing basis by the MOH based on the current COVID-19 situation in both countries.
Thus, in line with the MOH’s previous announcement on strengthening measures to the existing prevention and control measures for travelers from abroad, including travelers arriving at Malaysia’s international gateways through the VTL initiative, travelers using the Malaysia-Singapore VTL platform are reminded to requirements to implement:
• RTK-Ag test or rapid antigen test (self) on the 2nd, 4th, and 6th day after arrival;
• RTK-Ag test or rapid antigen test (professional) on the 3rd and 5th day after arrival.
MOH would like to advise all travelers to be responsible and always abide by the instructions and SOPs that have been set. Perform the COVID-19 detection test according to the prescribed regulations to determine the risk status of oneself and in turn be able to reduce the risk of infection to other individuals. It is also to ensure that cross-border travel involving the Malaysia-Singapore VTL scheme can continue to be implemented safely.
