BUTTERWORTH, February 10 – YB Soon Lip Chee, Penang State EXCO for Youth and Sports, announced that the race track at the MBSP Jalan Betek Sports and Recreation Complex is open for public use from this Saturday (12 February 2022).
After receiving requests from the public to use this track and a decision has been reached between the government departments and agencies involved, the public can now play sports at the race track every weekend (Saturday and Sunday), from 5pm to 7.30pm, He said.
For information, the decision before the opening to the public is to limit the use of the race track to the training of state athletes only.
“Taking into account safety factors, we decided that the time set for public use is during the period the athlete is not training to avoid any accidents that may occur between athletes and public users.”
He added, the athletes have been arranged to go elsewhere to continue their training while the upgrade work is underway to ensure the safety of the athletes. Therefore, the coaches and athletes were happy and eager to start training at the sports complex when they found out that the upgrade work had been completed and could be used again last Monday.
I hope the athletes can take advantage of this race track as well as carry out training diligently in order to collect excellent results in the upcoming competitions and bring glory to the State of Penang,” he said.

Meanwhile, a new change in the opening time of the Batu Kawan State Stadium race track was also implemented, from 7 am to 9 am and from 5 pm to 7.30 pm.
