PENANG, February 28 – I find the statement by Lim Kit Siang that `most of the 239 candidates in Johor state election have no chance of winning as their role is just to split votes to enable the UMNO candidates to win’, as rather pathetic for a leader who has participated in all the elections since 1969.
It rather amusing for a leader who has contested in 12 out of 14 general elections to make such a pathetic statement. It only shows that Kit Siang and DAP are scared to face the voters.
Kit Siang is undermining the wisdom of the voters especially the young undi18 voters. Voters have their own judgement dan we should respect their judgement. UMNO has no control over all the contesting parties and candidates. There is no way UMNO could determine their role in this election.
All contesting parties and candidates must strive to convince the voters how their rights and livelihood will be safeguarded.
The reason for this state election is well known. Only DAP and Kit Siang have chosen to ignore it. The stability of a government is paramount to deliver the best to the people.
DAP and Kit Siang should stop imposing their moral standard on others when their own moral standard is questionable as well.
