GEORGE TOWN, March 18 – The Penang Chambers of Commerce (PCCC) and the Scouts Association of Malaysia (Penang) have signed up as supporting partners to WCIT 2022 today to promote the event to their members and the community as volunteers for the event.
PIKOM, the organizer of WCIT 2022, expressed their appreciation for this partnership. Its Chairman Dr Sean Seah said, “We are very delighted to welcome the PCCC and Scouts Association of Malaysia on board to support WCIT 2022. Their partnership will include participating in WCIT 2022 as volunteers and promoting the event itself to their members and business networks.”
PCCC currently has over 1000 members from various business sectors, including enterprises, financial institutions, listed companies, housing & construction, garment & textiles, sole-agents, retailers & etc. Meanwhile, the Scouts Association of Malaysia (Penang) represents the largest youth organisation in Malaysia with over 12,000 members.
The MoU was witnessed by the Chief Minister of Penang, YAB Tuan Chow Kon Yeow. Penang is host to WCIT 2022. “I am pleased to see the inclusion of PCCC and the Scouts Association of Malaysia. WCIT 2022 will provide them with the ultimate global exposure at a different level altogether. We are looking at them shaking hands and networking with world tech leaders, innovators and forward-thinking personalities.
This is undoubtedly a good partnership for them, Penang and Malaysia,” says the Chief Minister of Penang. PIKOM also announced the SEADragon Program at the MoU signing event. SEADragon, an initiative by PIKOM started in 2018 as the premier sustainable Venture Pitch Platform for start-ups and scale-ups.
The platform focuses on investments, growth and global market expansion via Curated Deal Flows where promising companies were shortlisted, coached and equipped to be showcased to tech VCs, investors globally.
Dr Seah explains, “This year SEADragon returns and we are looking for the best among us to be showcased at the WCIT 2022 from 13-15 September 2022. Global tech leaders, VCs, investors will be present at the pitch of the finest companies.
As a run up to WCIT2022, from March 2022, a series of pitching events and training will be held to select and prepare the companies for the chance in the lifetime pitch.” WCIT 2022 will be the biggest tech event with a target of over 4,000 delegates from 80 countries, taking place in Penang from 13-15 September 2022.
