GEORGE TOWN, April 13 – Penang Gerakan Rakyat Malaysia Chairman Oh Tong Keong described the Pakatan Harapan (PH) Penang government led by DAP as a sleepy government after failing to set the Penang Local Plan in the past 14 years.
“The Penang PH government led by DAP has been governing Penang since 2008, until now for 14 years. However, Penang’s local plan has yet to be determined. Has the Penang PH government led by DAP slept for 14 years? ”
He also slammed the Exco Member for Housing, Local Government and Badar and Rural Planning of Penang, Jagdeep Singh for trying to give unreasonable reasons in relation to the issue of the Penang PH government failing to set the Penang Local Plan all this while.
The statement issued by YB Jagdeep has shown that the Penang PH Government led by DAP is not as efficient and competent as it has been trying to portray to the people of Penang for a long time.
“Jagdeep Singh said, due to the stipulation of the Penang Local Plan must follow legal procedures and must take into account the views of the people, so until now it could not be finalized. So far, only the Seberang Perai Local Plan can be prepared and will be on display to the public in the next two months. However, the Penang (Island) Local Plan is not yet ready.
This shows that the State Planning Committee members did not implement the island division plan. With that, he urged YB Jagdeep to give an explanation regarding the time period for the planning work of the Penang (Island) Local Plan.
He opined that the Penang (Island) Local Plan should be finalized immediately so that the local government can implement KPI (Key Performance Indicators) assessments on all councilors for both local authorities (PBT) effectively and meet the set standards.
He said, whether the era of Pakatan Rakyat (PR) Penang led by DAP or now the era of PH Penang which is also led by DAP is not people -oriented, they have been lying to the people of Penang for 14 years.
He believed that the Penang government did not dare to reveal or display the Penang Local Plan because they were afraid of offending the developers or consortium and also hindering certain parties from realizing their political agenda.
With that, Oh urged the people of Penang to stand up and not be easily fooled by the promises or sweet words of DAP and its allies and no longer support them in the next election.
