GEORGE TOWN, May 6 – The Health Minister was urged to set up a special committee of inquiry into the recent death of a trainee doctor working at the Penang Hospital (HPP). The establishment of relevant inquiries is important to identify the real cause of the incident and prevent similar sad stories from recurring, especially involving trainee doctors in the country.
In principle, the Ministry of Health (MOH) and the relevant parties must immediately come forward to explain the incident, and at the same time review and revamp the existing management system if necessary, especially involving the time period of assignment of doctors in medical institutions now.
MOH should not remain silent and let this matter continue. Appropriate strategies and solutions need to be expedited for the guarantee of our country’s medical system as a whole said Penang Chief Minister YAB Chow Kon Yeow.
