KEPALA BATAS, May 13 – An industrial area in Bertam, Kepala Batas to be developed is known as “Penang Teknologi Park” (PTP) with a project area of 834 acres, as a result of a meeting with Taman Mekar Sari Bertam residents’ representatives, Mr Hassan expressed concern over the project.
The issue that is of concern to the surrounding residents is the dumping of foreigners estimated at almost 14,000 (14 thousand) people who are feared to invite various social problems and threaten the safety of the surrounding residents.
Among the housing areas near the project are Pinggiran Bertam, Eco Residence, Bertam Putra and Taman Mekar Sari. In addition to the issue of dumping of foreign manpower, there is definitely the issue of traffic congestion and air pollution that will occur when the project is fully operational.
MUDA Kepala Batas urged the State Government to intervene to ensure the safety and well -being of the locals and suggested that a representative from the state government come down to meet with the surrounding residents to ensure the existence of:
- Frequency of patrols or Police huts during/after the project is developed.
- Create employment opportunities for locals to reduce the foreign workforce.
- Ensure that the only factory that will be registered is a high -tech manufacturing factory
reduce waste and air pollution. - Open new routes to avoid traffic congestion.
MUDA Kepala Batas hopes that the welfare of the people of Kepala Batas, especially Bertam, is preserved, and not pawned in the name of development alone.
