PM Ismail Sabri Announce BKM Extra RM100 For Households And RM50 For Single Individuals

PUTRAJAYA, June 24 – Back on June 1, 2022, Prime Minister YAB Ismail Sabri announced that cash assistance would be provided to Malaysian Families that is affected by the cost of living challenge when the Government would no longer subsidize the price of Chicken, Eggs and Other Food Items.

With that the Prime Minister Ismail Sabri announced Bantuan Keluarga Malaysia (BKM) is a direct cash assistance initiative announced in the 2022 Budget to benefit the B40 group as to date, a total of 8.6 million BKM recipients have been approved with households expected to receive up to RM2,500 in 2022. This assistance is the highest to date ever given by any Government.

Taking into account the challenges of the cost of living and the recent increase in food prices, the Government has decided to provide additional cash assistance to the B40 group of RM100 for households and RM50 for singles. The BKM Phase 2 payment involves an allocation of RM1.11 billion and each BKM recipient receives up to RM400 according to their respective BKM qualification categories.

Each BKM recipient will receive up to RM500 according to their respective BKM qualification categories. The additional cash assistance payment paid together with the BKM Phase 2 payment involves an additional allocation of RM630 million. The payment will benefit nearly 8.6 million recipients comprising 4 million households, 1.2 million senior citizens (single/single) and 3.4 million single individuals.

Each eligible recipient will receive payment in stages starting June 27, 2022 (Monday) involving a total allocation of RM1.74 billion. This payment is also to ease the financial burden of the B40 group, especially in celebrating Hari Raya Aidiladha soon and will be channeled as scheduled (see appendix).
