TANJUNG BUNGA, July 2 – Tenby Schools Penang is partnering with businesses and community groups to deliver a fun sustainability festival, EcoFest, on Saturday, 16 July at 9:30am – 1pm EcoFest celebrates sustainability and aims to inspire young people to make a positive difference by bringing everyone together to learn, play and perform.
Get ready for a family fun-filled festival that includes workshops, activities, exhibits, speakers, performances and delicious food. EcoFest will be showcasing conservation, sustainability, and environmentalism; highlights include:
- Speakers Corner Programme – Langur Project Penang, Penang Green Council, Tamarai NGO, Habitat Foundation and Green Smiths
- Garden Gurus – plant seeds, decorate pots, hunt bugs and tour our garden to learn about different methods of growing
- Workshops – Biriyani cooking by Tamarai, Canopy Bridge Design by Langur Project and Henna Design by Tamarai
- Trashion Show – dress up with recycled materials
- Film Screening –Plastic Island vs. Cowspiracy
- ISP (International Schools Partnership) Futures – internships, volunteer and job opportunities, and future study pathways in the field of environment and sustainability
- Entertainers – interactive storytelling, art gallery and music
- Market stalls – Indochine Naturals, OWL Grocer, Japanese Club and schoolcharities
- Food Vendors – Xinergy, Hillside Organics, Nak.Ed Farm, Anika Ginger Tea,Dude Curry Wheels and Alternative Coffee Roaster.
Festival organiser Tenby Schools Penang Eco Lead Alexa Rose Pettinari, said: “We aim to inspire young people and our visitors to make their lives more sustainable – from how they live, to the career they choose and what they eat. Living sustainably does not have to be daunting and our school shows just how easy it is to incorporate concepts of sustainability into every facet of our lives.
With more than 800 people attending the amazing Tenby International School’s S.T.E.A.M (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Maths) Fest in May 2022, EcoFest is set to raise the bar again and bring a wealth of energy and innovation as students, NGOs and businesses highlight sustainable services and products for a bright future.
EcoFest is at Tenby Schools Penang, 2 Lintang Lembah Permai 1, Tanjung Bungah, 11200, Penang on Saturday, 16 July 2022 at 9:30am – 1pm. Festival entry and activities are free, with a small charge for four external workshops.
