GEORGETOWN, July 24 – Penang Youth Development Corporation (PYDC) is calling out all the youth who are active or want to venture into the performing arts industry and urging the young people with any talents to register and showcase their uniqueness. In collaboration with DVOL Dance Studio, PYDC will be organizing the Merdeka Talent Show 2022 after receiving a very encouraging response from last year’s edition as we have more than 80 participants registered during the pandemic.
Wishes that this talent show will feature extraordinary acts, it will not limit only to singing or dancing, stand-up comedy, roleplay, monologue, music performance, or any unusual talent are welcome to join.
During the press conference, YB Soon Lip Chee, the Penang EXCO for youth and sports expresses that the Penang state government is willing to oblige and help our young talents in Penang. By providing the platform for young performing artists in Penang to enhance their communication and as well as execute ideas and performances.
It would also help to enhance the unity of young talents and artists in Penang and for the Penang State to explore more talents. Dr. Gwee Sai Ling, the General Manager of Penang Youth Development Corporation added on saying, PYDC is always sensitive and moves in line with the needs or current situation to ensure that the youth in Penang can develop their talents holistically in various aspects of interest. Under the initiative of Youth With Rhythm, through this program, we hope to explore the potential of youth who have talent in various fields.
This talent show will be focusing on youth aged between 15 to 35 years and those who are currently residing in Penang. PYDC hopes that this talent show can help to enliven the performing arts industry and further highlight the talents of the youth in Penang. Participants must follow the set of criteria that was determined by the organizers. The competition will take place from 21 July 2022 – 20 August 2022.
Out of all the submissions, only the top 15 videos will be chosen. The announcement of the top 15 will be made on 1 September 2022. There will also be an award ceremony that will be held on 15 October 2022 where these top 15 will have to perform live physically. Lucrative prizes await the winners of this competition. The top 15 in the competition will receive cash prizes below:
- Champion RM 3,000.00
- 1st Runner Up RM 2,000.00
- 2nd Runner Up RM 1,000.00
- Consolation x 12 RM 500.00
