GEORGE TOWN, August 5 – Penang Youth Development Corporation (PYDC) in collaboration with Tunku Abdul Rahman University College (TARUC) Penang Branch Campus Computer Science Society, Magnus Games Studio and Big Domain under the initiative of Penang Young Digital Talent with the aim in promoting Penang as a digital talent hub are organizing a Game Development Training Programme for all Malaysian students who are undergoing secondary to tertiary level education.
The age requirement to participate in this training program is 15 to 25 years of age and participants must be a full-time student. Dr. Gwee Sai Ling, General Manager of Penang Youth Development Corporation (PYDC), Mr. Henry Tye, CEO of Big Domain, Mr. Chau Guan Hin, FOCS Programme Leader, TARUC Computer Science Society Advisor, and Mr. Tan Zhi Wei, CTO of Magnus Games Studio Sdn Bhd were also present at the online launch today. Dr. Gwee said, “Youth has always been our focus for development.
We believe through game development programme, youth are able to learn something new and interesting, and more importantly the programme is able to cultivate the creativity and innovation of our youth”. “This programme is in line with the initiative of Penang Young Digital Talent that launched in 2020 in partnership with Big Domain with the objective to develop Penang as a digital talent hub and developing young talents are always our passion”, said Mr. Henry Tye.
YB Soon Lip Chee, Penang State Exco for Youth and Sports expressed that the main objective of this program is to encourage the college, university, or secondary students to involve in the global digital revolution, to learn some basic knowledge about mobile game development and to help students gain the skills on developing mobile games. Students will enter a competition after the 7-day programme where mobile game development competition is the first ever organized in Penang State. The winning games will also be recommended to the international platform after the competition.
Registration eligibility:
- Open to Malaysian Youth, aged 15 to 25 years old.
- Each participant will need to pay RM10.00 as registration fees.
- Open to Secondary Level Student / Tertiary Level Full Time Student only.
The registration period will start from 1 August 2022 to 19 August 2022. The program will start on 20 August 2022 for the introduction of the program and team formation. There will be another six (6) days scheduled date training workshop between 27 August 2022 until 10 September 2022 (20, 21, 27, 28 August, 3, 4, and 10 September). A total of RM5,800 prize pool to be won.
