ALOR SETAR, September 3 – The Three (3) Days Edition of Kedah Keluarga Malaysia Aspirations (AKM) Tour kick off at the Darul Aman Stadium, Alor Setar, Kedah. Various interesting programmes have been lined up for visitors, including ‘Happy Hour’ sale, where visitors can buy Chicken and a Five (5) Kilogram Bag of Rice for only RM 10 as well as the Jamin Kerja Keluarga Malaysia Career Carnival with more than 4,000 job opportunities on offer.

In addition, the Ministry of Rural Development (KPLB), which is the lead ministry for the Kedah AKM Tour, also highlighted the products of rural entrepreneurs in the Rural Entrepreneurs Mini Camival at the Rural Entrepreneurs Pavilion @ KPLB. Visitors will also have the opportunity to get discounts of up to 50 per cent for traffic summonses, as well as being able to change motorcycle engine oil for free, courtesy of the Kedah Regional Development Authority (KEDA) college, tomorrow and Sunday in conjunction win the tour.

Meanwhile, Mara Liner will provide a free shuttle bus service to facilitate the movement of visitors to the stadium and the service is available from two locations, Shahab Perdana bus station and Pekan Rabu, hourly, between 9 am and 9 pm. Another attraction is the appearance of renowned speakers Datuk Radii Shah Alauddin and Ustaz Abdullah Khairi delivering religious talks in the Forum Perdana Keluarga Malaysia as well as the Gegaq @ JAKM Concert featuring singer such as Haqiem Rusli and Khai Bahar.

Apart from that, Orang Asli Traditional Cultural Shows and Handicrafts will also be shown to visitors which is one of the special features of the Kedah AKM Tour. The Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri had also officiate the launch of Kedah Keluarga Malaysia Aspirations Tour yesterday at 3.30PM. During the launch the government has allocated RM 1.3 Billion under the 12th Malaysia Plan (12MP) for Seven (7) Flood Mitigation Programmes in Kedah, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri. He said the projects include those involving Sungai Pendang, Sungai Kedah/Anak Bukti, Baling, Kuala Pegang and Bandar Jitra Selatan.

With the total of RM 230 Million has also been allocated for the construction of a network of sewerage systems throughout Kedah, including 28 public sewage plants and 16 sewage plants on government premises. In addition, the Prime Minister said 844 Hardcore Poor Housing Project (PPRT) units had been built and refurbished in Kedah, involving a total allocation of RM 15.7 Million that benefited 4,420 occupants in rural area. – Bernama
