KUALA LUMPUR, September 3 – UMNO President, Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has asked all the machinery of the party and BN to be ready to face the 15th General Election (GE15) at any time. At the same time, he said he would bring the people’s mandate to expedite GE15 at the UMNO Supreme Working Council (MKT) meeting on Saturday night. MKT UMNO has always been consistent in wanting GE15 to be held immediately, especially after group immunity has been successfully achieved.
When else? We are consistent and persistent in demanding that GE15 be expedited because we respect the mandate of the people. We want a government that has the legitimacy of the people, not through political manipulation. We want to return the mandate to the people. We have been consistent since the beginning,” he said at the UMNO President’s Special Briefing session which took place at the Kuala Lumpur World Trade Center (WTCKL) on Saturday.
In another development, Ahmad Zahid who is also the BN Chairman asked all grassroots to support the pardon petition of former Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak. However, he said, any decision depends on the wisdom of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah.
