BAYAN LEPAS, September 29 – The Malaysian People’s Party (PRM) is targeting five Parliamentary seats and 15 State Legislative Assembly (DUN) seats in Penang in the 15th General Election (GE15). Penang PRM leader Teh Yee Cheu said the five parliamentary seats targeted were Bukit Bendera, Jelutong, Bayan Baru, Batu Kawan and Nibong Tebal while the state assembly seats were those under the five parliamentary constituencies.
The former Tanjung Bungah State Assembly Member said that until now, the party has identified half of the candidates who will contest and they will be announced later. We have not yet finalized the candidates who will compete in the five parliamentary seats and 15 state assembly seats. So far, only half (have been finalized). When everything is ready, we will announce it. We will field a candidate who is over 40 years old, experienced, clean, mature and has a good career.
We will approach the voters in our own way, through a mature candidate,” he said at a press conference here on Tuesday. Yee Cheu who used to be a member of Parti Sosialis Malaysia (PSM) said that with a clearer manifesto, he is confident that PRM will be able to give fierce competition to other parties in GE15. Our advantage is standing on our own platform without joining any other party. We have a clear manifesto and direction which is to help the people in solving their problems.
