BUKUT MERTAJAM, October 10 – Penang DAP fundraising dinner which was held at Dewan Ng Yam Huat in Bukit Mertajam this evening received huge support from the party grassroots and supporters. Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow, who is also the state DAP chairman, said he was delighted with the contributions rendered to the party during the fundraising dinner. This is the second fundraising dinner organised by the state DAP this year. The first one was held at the Han Chiang High School in September.
“I am glad to see such a massive crowd from party grassroots and supporters in both fundraising dinners. All 131 tables are full tonight. The fundraising dinner has been the party’s practice all these years. It serves as a platform for us to fight for a better future. We truly appreciate the support given to us, especially when we are on the verge of facing the upcoming General Election,” Chow said in his speech during the event.
Chow, who is also the state Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman, said the 15th General Election (GE15) would be the most challenging one ever faced by the PH coalition due to multi-cornered fights for state and parliamentary seats. It will be different and more challenging than any other general elections that we ever faced. We are expecting multi-cornered fights from various political parties and coalitions such as Perikatan Nasional (PN), Barisan Nasional (BN), Gerakan Tanah Air (GTA) and many others.
At the end of the event, Chow presented a mock cheque of RM200,000 to Loke. Chow said the RM200,000 was part of the funds collected from both fundraising dinners. The funds will be used by the national DAP and the remaining will be used by the state DAP for its political activities, he said. – BULETIN MUTIARA
