KUALA LUMPUR, October 11 – UMNO described PAS as having failed to meet the conditions to allow them to continue cooperation to face the 15th General Election (GE15). Its Vice President, Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin said, the three conditions set by UMNO President, Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi still remain. “We have not changed our conditions, which are the three things that the president mentioned.
If PAS does not accept those (conditions), it (cooperation offer) will automatically fall, that’s all. If there is no (cooperation) it means there will be a competition (UMNO-PAS seat clash), he said when met after the UMNO Supreme Working Council (MKT) meeting held at Menara Dato’ Onn, World Trade Center (WTC) here, on Monday . He said this when asked to comment on the status of UMNO-PAS cooperation, including the issue of the clash of 27 parliamentary seats which PAS fears.
UMNO set three conditions for PAS to strengthen official cooperation between the two parties to face GE15. The three conditions include Pas having to leave the Perikatan Nasional (PN) coalition, sever political ties with Bersatu and officially declare the ‘mufaraqah’ in question and not just political rhetoric. However, PAS in a counter statement stated its position to continue working with UMNO and Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu).
