GEORGE TOWN, October 12 – Penang People’s Justice Party (PKR) is now in the final stages of determining the candidate to be featured in the 15th General Election (GE15). Its deputy chairman, Datuk Muhammad Bakhtiar Wan Chik said, PKR will compete in four parliamentary seats namely Balik Pulau, Bayan Baru, Permatang Pauh and Nibong Tebal. According to him, PKR Election Director, Rafizi Ramli has prepared a list of candidates for all the seats that will be contested in this state and the final decision will be made by the party president later.
We are almost finalizing the candidates who will compete in the four parliamentary seats so far. I think the Election Director already has a list and is just waiting for the final decision to be made by the president,” he said when met by the media after attending the Pakatan Harapan leadership meeting here, on Tuesday. Asked whether he would defend the Balik Pulau parliamentary seat, Muhammad Bakhtiar said the matter was left to the party to decide.
Meanwhile, commenting on the dissolution of the State Legislative Assembly (DUN), Muhammad Bakhtiar said that PKR remained committed to not dissolving the State Assembly in line with the previous ruling of the PKR Presidential Council. On Wednesday, Pakatan Harapan (PH) Chairman, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said, the three PH states namely Selangor, Negeri Sembilan and Penang will not dissolve the state assembly if GE15 is held this year as decided in the Presidential Council meeting.
