The MICHELIN Guide is ready to make a debut in Penang after Kuala Lumpur and set off to become the very first state outside the capital of Malaysia to obtain MICHELIN stars said Penang State Executive Councilor for Tourism and Creative Economy YB Yeoh Soon Hin in the Press Conference in Komtar today.
MICHELIN Star is the badge of honour for the gastronomy industry, and today, we finally have the chance to bring Penang’s cuisine to the world’s most prestigious gastronomy guide,” he said. Yeoh stated that it is undeniable that Michelin Guide is the highest accolade of the gastronomy industry in almost all countries around the world as it has become the quide for many tourists to find and taste the cuisine of local gastronomic destinations. The MICHELIN Guide will be making their Official Debut in Malaysia Announcement on October 20, 2022 in Kuala Lumpur.
Surely with the footprint of the MICHELIN Guide, it will further reinforce Penang’s stature as the food utopia, consequently enhances the quality and consistency of the local culinary scene due to the evaluation of their professional culinary inspectors. Yeoh also said that the Penang State Government will sign a joint agreement with MICHELIN Guide in the near future.
The Michelin Guides are a series of guide books that have been published by the French tyre company Michelin since 1900. The Guide awards up to three Michelin stars for excellence to a select few establishments. The acquisition or loss of a star or stars can have dramatic effects on the success of a restaurant.
