KUALA LUMPUR, October 15 – Pakatan Harapan (PH) Presidential Council has decided not to dissolve the State Legislative Assembly (DUN) of Penang, Selangor and Negeri Sembilan, the decision was made to ensure that preparations are made to deal with floods in the three states involved said Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. Therefore, I and the Amanah party, which had the same position at the initial stage, DAP took time to explain their position.
But in the end DAP Secretary General (Anthony Loke) decided that we PH and the three states (under PH administration) will jointly decide to postpone the state election, so that the focus is on dealing with the flood problem,” he explained in a press conference after the PH Presidential Council Meeting at the headquarters PKR, here, on Saturday. Commenting further, Anwar explained, the decision was made after discussions were held with DAP and Amanah as well as representatives of the people in several states involved.
Therefore, he added, the current government machinery needs to fully focus on preparations to deal with floods and not elections. PH is a whole body and we give space for open discussions, what is the reason for us to make joint decisions. First we reject the government’s greed to force elections in a situation where the people are suffering and facing floods. Secondly, we want the government machinery that is legitimate and has a mandate to focus not on the election or their position.
