GEORGE TOWN, October 15 – Penang Tourism to go digitalized with the launch of ‘Penang Virtual Tour Series’, an initiative by Penang State EXCO for Tourism and Creative Economy (PETACE) and Penang Global Tourism (PGT). With the collaboration from Penang Tour Guide Association (PTGA), this series features 10 episodes videos that cover the 3 major aspects of tourism that will serve as a teaser to the viewers of the latest attractions available in Penang.
This is the latest effort from the state after the success of the earlier released ‘The Opposite side of the Island – Bukit Mertajam’, ‘The Other Side of the Island – Balik Pulau and Teluk Bahang’, ‘Jalan-Jalan Pulau Pinang’ brochure, ‘Muslim Travel Guide’ booklet and ‘Penang Welcomes You’ campaign During the launch, YB Yeoh Soon Hin, the Penang state EXCO for Tourism and Creative Economy (PETACE) said: “We have taken a step further in initiating the latest ‘Penang Virtual Your Series’ with the collaboration from Penang Tour Guide Association (PGA).
This initiative will cater to the global digitalization that has taken the world by swift, particularly during the lockdown period implemented amidst the Covid-19 outbreak. This also concurrently echoes one of the aspirations outlined in my Penang Tourism Master Plan, that is to transform Penang into a Smart City destination that incorporates the traditional tourism approach with digital tourism by utilizing the usage of technology and innovations.”
The ‘Penang Virtual Tour Series’ consists of approximately 15 minutes long videos that preview the diversely attractive sides of Penang through participation of the host at the location with detailed explanation on the tourism products and sites from experienced tour guide of Penang Tour Guide Association (PGA) in hope to attract greater tourist segments.
