SHAH ALAM, October 22 – Malaysia Airlines and Firefly announced that they will increase the number of flights to domestic destinations in addition to offering fare discounts to voters following the announcement of the date of the 15th General Election (GE15) made by the Election Commission (SPR). Malaysia Airlines said in a statement that the airline launched a ‘Jom Balik Mengudi’ campaign which offered a 20 percent fare discount to facilitate the movement of voters through air transport.
“For bookings from today to 19 November 2022 for travel from 11 to 27 November 2022. The company will also add 26 flights and upgrade 16 domestic services for the A330 aircraft to accommodate the surge in demand to several routes in Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah and Sarawak. The 20 percent discount promotion applies to all fare categories consisting of Lite, Basic and Flex for Economy Class in addition to Basic and Flex for Business Class and is available for booking through www.malaysiaairlines.com,” he said on Thursday.
The EC previously set November 19 as Voting Day for GE15 simultaneously with the N66 Bugaya By-Election (PRK). The EC chairman, Tan Sri Abdul Ghani Salleh also informed that the nomination of candidates is set for 5 November. Meanwhile, Firefly Airlines will add up to 70 flights from Subang to Penang for selected domestic flight routes from 17 November to 20 November 2022 with fare discounts of 24 percent and 10 percent for jets and ATRs. The promotion is available for bookings from today until October 24, 2022 for travel from November 1, 2022 to June 30, 2023,” he said.
