KUALA LUMPUR, November 2 – Perikatan Nasional (PN) announced that it will field candidates in 169 Parliamentary seats and 116 State Legislative Assembly (DUN) seats in the 15th General Election (GE15). Elections Director of Perikatan Nasional (PN), Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali was officially announced to contest in Gombak while the Deputy President of Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu), Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu will contest in Tambun Parliament.
Perikatan Nasional Chairman, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin also announced the former Chairman of the National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN), Datuk Wan Saiful Wan Jan as a candidate for the Tasek Gelugor Parliament. PN Chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said that of the 169 parliamentary seats to be contested, Bersatu will vie for 74 seats, PAS (64), Gerakan (20) and affiliated groups (11).
At the State Legislative Assembly level involving Pahang, Perlis and Perak, he said PAS will contest 57 seats, Bersatu (41), Gerakan (14) and affiliated groups (four). This was decided at the PN Supreme Council meeting and we will announce the candidates contesting, except for Kelantan and Terengganu, at another date, either tomorrow or the day after,” he said.
The chairman of Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) in Kedah, Mohd Suhaimi Abdullah was announced as the Perikatan Nasional (PN) candidate in the Langkawi Parliament, thus facing former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
