IPOH, November 5 – Four-cornered fight for the Tambun Parliamentary ‘hot seat’ in the 15th General Election (GE15) was begins today at Ipoh here. The four-cornered fight involved Malaysian Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim from Pakatan Harapan (PH), Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu from Perikatan Nasional (PN), Abdul Rahim Tahir from Gerakan Tanah Air (GTA) and Md Hanafiah from Barisan Nasional (BN).
All four individuals filed their papers at the Dewan Sri Kledang Institut Latihan Perindustrian Ipoh here today when nominations opened at 9am. The supporters from respective parties also gathered along the streets near the nomination centre from around 7.30am to show their support to the candidates.
The Election Commission (EC) has set Nov 15 for early voting and Nov 19 for polling. The campaign period will be for 14 days beginning from the announcement of the candidates by the returning officers in the respective constituencies until 11.59 pm on Nov 18.
GE15 is held following the dissolution of the 14th Parliament by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob last Oct 10 with the consent of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah.
