BUKIT MERTAJAM, November 28 – The UCreation Kings Pro League (UCKPL) Grand Final Esports Tournament by UCreation took place in Van Gogh Eminent Hotel today on the 6th of November 2022. Dubbed as the largest and most valuable esports tournament in the history of Malaysia, the UCreation Kings Pro League Esports Tournament which first started on the 26th of September 2022 finally presented two finalist teams. NB Team and Ace Gaming, facing off against each other to stand a chance to win as grand champion.
A total prize pool of RM 50,000 has been accumulated from the great support and cooperation from sponsors. The title grand champion goes to NB Team while first runner-up officially goes to Ace Gaming. Second runner-up goes to Secrecy. The grand champion will be receiving a total prize of RM 17,500 while the first runner-ups will be returning with a total prize of RM 8,000. The second runner-up will be receiving RM 6,000. The Penang Youth Development Corporation (PYDC) served as a supporting partner for this tournament. Dr. Gwee Sai Ling, General Manager of PYDC, was invited to deliver an opening speech.
To quote her speech, “Recently, Malaysia has won three gold medals at the Commonwealth Esports Championships. This proud achievement has created a need to give attention to Malaysian e-Sports players and industry and to nurture them to their optimum level. Dr. Gwee also mentioned on other initiatives taken by PYDC and the Penang State Government in promoting the gaming industry in Penang. This includes the Game Development Competition organised by PYDC with partners under the Penang Young Digital Talent initiative that is open for registration until the end of November.
And also the Penang E-sports Academy which has been launched by the Penang State Government through the Penang State Sports Council in August. Such initiatives are being taken to promote the esports industry within the state of Penang. The UCKPL Grand Final Esports Tournament was organised by UCreation in collaboration with PYDC has been a massive success. The list of official sponsors of the tournament is as follows:
