GEORGETOWN, November 19 – Pakatan Harapan (PH) retain in Penang which won the seats of Bukit Mertajam, Batu Kawan, Nibong Tebal, Bukit Bendera and Bukit Gelugor in Penang according to unofficial count.
The Bagan, Tanjong, Jelutong and Bayan Baru Parlimentary seat in Penang result was officially confirmed by the Election Commission (EC) in the 15th general election (GE15) tonight.
The Tanjong Parlimentary seat saw incumbent DAP chairperson Lim Guan Eng sister Lim Hui Ying of Pakatan Harapan (PH) defeating Tan Kim Nee of Barisan Nasional (BN) and Ah Leng of Perikatan Nasional (PN) by a majority of 28,754 votes.
Lim Hui Ying obtained 31,968 while Tan Kim Nee had 3,214 votes and Ah Leng had 2,501 votes. Lim Hui Ying announced that she will visit to pasar Chowrasta to thank voters on tomorrow 9am.
Lim Guan Eng won the Parlimentary seat in Bagan with the votes of 55,797, while RSN Rayer won the Parlimentary seat in Jelutong with the votes of 50,369. Sim Tze Tzin won the Parlimentary seat in Bayan Baru with the votes of 55,209.
The chairman of Gerakan Tanah Air (GTA), Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, loosed Langkawi with 4,566 votes compared to Mohd Suhaimi Bin Abdullah of PN won 25,463 votes.
Voting centres for GE15 were opened from 8 am to 6 pm in Peninsula Malaysia while the voting process in Sabah, Sarawak and Labuan began at 7.30 am until between 11 am and 5.30 pm. Out of a total of 222 parliamentary seats, 220 were contested in GE15 today.
