KUALA LUMPUR, November 21 – Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim welcomed the negotiations with Barisan Nasional (BN) and hinted at forming a larger majority coalition and BN asked for more time to negotiate with political parties that previously agreed with BN. Anwar said that this cooperation with BN is appropriate because the formation of the government needs to be done in order to obtain stable work.
Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said he is confident that his coalition will be able to form a stable unity federal government with Barisan Nasional (BN). He said that he was pleased with the outcome of the meeting with seven BN representatives earlier today, including its chairman Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi. I am very pleased with the outcome of the meeting. We had seven representatives from BN to discuss the formation of a coalition of government under my leadership.
“We prioritise key issues for this new government. First stability; we require political stability to carry the country forward. Anwar was responding to BN treasurer-general Hishammuddin Hussein saying he will not support any cooperation with PH to form the government. Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim confirmed that he is the sole candidate for Prime Minister in joint negotiations with BN. He said, BN did not propose another name in its discussions with the coalition.
And my main choice for the post of Deputy Prime Minister, let me be the Prime Minister first,” he said at a press conference with the PH leadership at a hotel here on Monday.
